Obviously, blogging hasn’t been a priority for me this year. It’s made it onto my to-do list many times, but Instagram was more accessible. Finally, this month I’ve decided to dip back into blogging.
A Recent Project: Hot Drink Station
A recent project I completed was on a corner of my kitchen. There are plenty of larger spots in my kitchen that I would love to work on, but most of them take more than my $25/month budget. Starting with a small thing makes at least one corner of the kitchen the cozy vision I have for the rest of the room.
Most Used Place in the Kitchen
One place (besides the dishes—they literally never go anywhere) that I will be sure to utilize every single day is my hot drink area. I adore coffee and generally enjoy tea, making this corner one of the first places I go to every morning. As you can see from the before picture it was bare bones—my tea pot, my coffee grinder, and my coffee were all there…but it was missing a little something.
Starting Place…
I decided to go looking for some glass jars to get rid of unsightly bags, along with some metal 1 tablespoon scoops for those jars. Next, I decided I wanted to look for a tiered shelving unit that is super popular in decorating right now. I visited literally every single craft store in the area along with Ross, TJMaxx, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Walmart, and the Dollar Tree before I found everything I was looking for.
The Process and the Completion!
I found the jars at the Dollar Tree. The spoons I had to order from amazon. The tiered shelving came from Hobby Lobby. What drove me crazy was I really wanted something like a tiered shelf that was like a lazy Susan—if I’m going to put something in a corner like that, I needed it to spin around so I can get things off the back! Because I couldn’t find anything to match the picture in my head, I ended up buying a lazy Susan separately. I asked my husband to help make it work and he sanded it down just enough to fit underneath my tiered shelf! It works amazing! The last thing I purchased was a little sign.
I went a little over budget with the lazy Susan purchase, but all in all I was impressed with what I got! I have all my favorite mugs, drinks, coffee making apparatus, and more in one spot ready for cozy drink season. I browsed a ton of pictures on Pinterest in preparation for this project, but none of them looked exactly like the space I had to work with. However, they did give me a general feeling of what I liked and didn’t like and that was helpful when I went shopping.
What About You?
Do you have spots in your kitchen that dive you insane? Do you ever move things around to make the flow of your work smooth? And most importantly, how do you set up your hot drink making for the winter?
