It has been a crazy week around here. I had hoped to make some plans for some content today, but you are just going to get a recap of the week! Lucky you!
Where it all started…
Last weekend, we discovered our septic tank needed pumped out. Nothing super gross happened. A small amount of water backed up into our bathrooms. The next available pump appointment was not until Wednesday. What does it mean to live in a house that needs their septic pumped out? Laundry can’t be done and the dishwasher can’t be run. …that means life is filled with exciting things like trips to the laundromat and hand washing all your dishes. Yes, definitely first world problems, but certainly made an impact on our otherwise boring lives.
Pumping went fine, but we were informed a redo of the drain field might need to happen in the next few years. After that, there were a lot of chores to catch up on! I actually just washed the towels today and we usually do them on Towel Tuesday!
And then came…
Thursday was a bit of a rough day for my daughter at school. I won’t go into details on here because that’s part of her story, but anyone who has kids knows that if they have a rough day you have a rough day too. We survived and I think we all learned some valuable lessons on how to react when people push our buttons and ironically how to self-care when we aren’t feeling our best mentally. Not something that I learned at age nine, but I’m guessing the younger you learn the better it is, right?
Then yesterday was just a super busy day with a trip to the Florida Museum of Natural History and their butterfly rain forest (all the butterflies were asleep because it was super duper cold out!) and then an amazing gluten free diary free pizza from Blaze Pizza and then grocery shopping before heading home…for just a couple of hours before we went back out for a birthday party.
Thankful to be at the other end of things!
Having extra weekend welcoming thankfulness and also thankful for the end of a extraordinary long week. And with many hopeful thoughts that this coming week might be the end of the month of January. I always am aware that January is extra long, but every year I seem surprised in a different way about how long it takes to get all the way through it.
How was your week? Hopefully, not as crazy as mine! What was your favorite part? Your favorite meal? What are you thankful for?
My favorite part of last week was going on a field trip with my oldest daughters fourth grade class. I made my kids Fettuccine Alfredo as a special meal to celebrate good report cards. I really like these weekly recap kind of posts. I hope you have a great Monday!
