If you are into direct sales of any kind, you have probably heard of the clothing company LuLaRoe. They became super popular super fast a few years ago. Their claim to fame (besides buttery soft leggings!) is that they only make a certain amount of clothing in a certain print. Finding matching prints is difficult if not impossible. Clever marketing, right? Their clothing is comfortable and I got a bit addicted mostly because it was easy to wear, stretchy (an important point when you have food allergies and bloating to cope with), and I could buy it from my couch.
They carry kid’s sizes, so I made a point to shop for some for my daughter to go back to school with. (They recently lowered the prices on their kids clothing line!) I found an adorable dress that had a grey heathered background with different colored stripes all over it. It got the Princess stamp of approval, so I paid for it. We purchased another dress in a different style which ended up being too small, so we exchanged it.
It was when that purchase came in that I got a surprise! It had been a rough week and it wasn’t over yet. When I opened the package there was an extra shirt and it looked exactly like my daughter’s dress! It was the same rare print. There was also a note explaining what happened. Someone had the shirt they had never worn and when they saw me purchase the dress for my daughter, she donated it to the consultant to give to me.
Today, the first day of school, we were able to wear matching outfits. It meant a lot getting that shirt on less-than-ideal day and meant even more to feel closer to my daughter on an important day.
I don’t know about random, but I certainly feel like I should purposefully chose ways to be kind. This world is so full of anger and hurt–why don’t you join me in sprinkling some kindness around?
